International Program Manager Department: Destination Branding and
StrategyReports to: SVP of Destination Branding and StrategyStatus:
Full-time; Exempt JOB SUMMARY:Under the direction of the SVP of
Destination Branding and Strategy, the International Program
Manager is responsible for managing the sales and supportive
operations for international group and leisure travel. This
position includes managing sales accounts, fostering active
relationships with tourism stakeholders, developing and
implementing sales strategies, and working with the Destination
Branding & Strategy team to establish marketing and public
relations strategies aimed at achieving the organizational goals of
Meet Minneapolis. Additionally, the International Program Manager
is responsible for managing the 12 Minneapolis Sister City
relationships.This position collaborates frequently with other
partners including region, state and multi-state destination
marketing organizations. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIESInternational Tourism:
- Leads development of annual tourism marketing plan and budget,
including goals, objectives and strategies.
- Develops a sales program of work to include organizing and
conducting sales calls, presentations, trade shows, familiarization
tours and marketing activities that support tour operator
development.
- Generates new and maintains existing relationships with
receptive tour operators, wholesalers, consolidators, OTAs, and
other organizations within the international tour operator
ecosystem.
- Grows and maintains relationships with Minneapolis hotel
community in support of international travelers.
- Collaborates with marketing and communications staff within
Destination Branding & Strategy to develop programs, campaigns,
partnerships and materials to successfully sell Minneapolis to
global and group tourism markets.
- Maintains a local, national and international profile for Meet
Minneapolis in the travel industry through participation in
associations, committees, marketing cooperatives and Explore
Minnesota Tourism initiatives.Sister Cities:
- Serves as the primary liaison between the City of Minneapolis
and local sister city organizations, international counterparts,
and City Hall leadership, including the Mayor's Office and City
Council President.
- Leads the planning, coordination, and execution of official
visits involving international delegations and elected officials,
both inbound and outbound.
- Organizes and promotes events, with a focus on the annual
Sister Cities Day, to engage residents and highlight the value of
international partnerships.
- Partner with local sister cities organizations to support their
programs, leverage relationships and collaborate with
stakeholders.
- Other duties as assigned.ESSENTIAL
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in marketing, international business,
business management, communications or related field plus relevant
experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience may
be considered.
- Previous international, tourism or travel trade or hotel sales
experience preferred.
- Proficiency in the use of technology, including the Microsoft
suite of business applications, CRM software and other technology
tools as necessary.
- Valid driver's license.
- Valid and current US passport.ESSENTIAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES
- Exceptional communication and public speaking skills, with
sensitivity to cultural nuances.
- Proven ability to manage relationships with diverse
stakeholders, including government officials, business leaders, and
cultural organizations.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with
strong attention to detail.
- Collaborative mindset and demonstrated success working in
fast-paced, multicultural environments.
- Familiarity with sales processes, hotel contracting, and
distribution channels related to travel trade and tourism.
- Knowledge of Minneapolis and the greater metro area, including
its hotels, attractions, and key assets.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Proficiency in a second language is preferred but not
required.PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job,

timeWORKING CONDITIONS
- General office environment: hybrid - 60% in-office, 40%
remote
- Regional and national travel, as needed, to trade shows, client
visits and Meet Minneapolis partner and member eventsSALARY
- $60,000 - $70,000 starting range for annual base salary plus 5%
annual bonus potential.BENEFITS
