Job ID359491 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilyInformation Technology Full/Part TimeFull-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code9703PM Employee ClassAcad Prof and Admin About the Job The Data Science Project Manager (DSPM) will be primarily responsible for overseeing a team of data analysts and quality assurance/control professionals who are developing a real world database for Research Evaluating Vagal Excitation Anatomical Links (REVEAL), a large NIH-funded multi-site international clinical trial. This study's focus is to collect and maintain a "first-in-kind" comprehensive dataset of clinical and biologic longitudinal data for vagus nerve stimulation which can have major scientific and clinical impact for a multitude of health conditions. Additionally, this hire will manage a team of SQL developers who are supporting the underlying infrastructure for the REVEAL trial and the M Health Fairview's learning health system (LHS) datamart team. The latter also supports the data democratization and delivery work of the Clinical Quality, Outcomes, Discovery and Evaluation (CQODE) Core of the Center for Learning Health System Sciences (CLHSS). This role oversees a team of 5 and will report to the Data Programs Manager in CLHSS with project direction provided by the Director of the REVEAL Data and Analysis Core (DAC). The DSPM will be involved in process and solutions design and innovation, technical project planning, implementation, documentation, quality assurance, and hiring. The DSPM will interface and coordinate work with IT, clinical, and academic stakeholders and support teams. This position receives minimal guidance and requires the ability to work well independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate will have strong analytical, organization, project management, and communication (written and oral) skills to guide a multi-disciplinary team and ensure deliverables are timely and meet requirements. This position also requires a high tolerance for ambiguity to research and develop solutions to undefined research topics. Duties/Responsibilities: 90%: REVEAL Grant Provide leadership of the data and analysis core team in the delivery of high-quality data science services within committed time frames Organize cross-functional activities, monitor team performance, and ensure timely completion of the project Build and execute operational and technical project plans working with the Director of the DAC Oversee a team of analysts in the management and translation of the LHS datamarts to the REVEAL vagabase Oversee the process for the transfer of the Vagabase and any relevant metadata and code to the NIH's public data repository Manage approximately 5 FTE data analysts and quality assurance staff. Provide leadership for staff and foster a professional, diverse and equitable working environment for people from all backgrounds, communities, and identities, where staff are empowered and accountable Lead meetings with the larger study team and present DAC updates and execute on meeting action items Facilitate and ensure project compliance with various governances and policies (UMN, HIPAA, Fairview, etc.) Maintain a living data management plan in collaboration with external partners (i.e. NIH) 10%: Clinical Quality, Outcomes, Discovery & Evaluation (CQODE) Core Manage highly technical projects: actively manage scope and change; identify risks and issues, prioritizing conflicting needs; handle matters expeditiously and proactively; follow through to successful completion, often with deadline pressures Effectively manage interest holder expectations and resource requirements Collaboratively work with Solutions Architect when infrastructure needs arise related to LHS datamart platform or REVEAL DAC Set up and establish project specific technologies (in collaboration with our Solutions Architect) to support project delivery strategy Program Description: The Center for Learning Health System Sciences is a one of a kind partnership between the Medical School and School of Public Health with a goal to decrease the time it takes for science to make it from the lab to the clinic in pursuit of better health outcomes for the patients we serve. IMDS is a unit within the center to develop innovative computational methods and provide data science support to other units. Currently, the position will be primarily working from home. There may be occasional needs to be on campus and over time there may be a need to set a regular schedule for a few days on campus each week. Work hours should follow a regular schedule between 7-5, M-F. Salary range: $85,000-92,000 Qualifications Required Qualifications: BA/BS with at least 4 years of research/technical project management experience or an advanced degree in computer science, data science, engineering, biostatistics or related field plus 2 years of related experience Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and understand the technology stack, data lifecycle, and data science method development from ideation to closure, set and maintain deadlines, prioritize assignments, proactively problem-solve Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills Commitment to positive team dynamics, client satisfaction, and creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment Strong knowledge of healthcare data management concepts and regulatory/compliance policies (HIPAA, IRB, etc.) Working knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs. These may include, but are not limited to: Redcap, SQL, Box/Dropbox, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, Qualtrics (or other survey tools), command line, tools like Calendly and Slack, Github, Jupyter notebooks, connecting to servers/cloud computing systems Strong initiative and ability to work independently, as a part of a team, and with changing priorities Ability to prioritize multiple projects while meeting deadlines in a timely manner, and demonstrate strong organizational and problem solving skills Preferred Qualifications: Experience with data science, AI/ML, natural language processing, biostatistics, and computer vision Project management certification Six Sigma certification Exposure to statistical modeling and/or advanced analytics using R or Python.
